Imogen Morley Sands was born on December 31, 1999, in Los Angeles, California, United States. She turned 24 last December. She was born to actor Julian Sands and playwright Evgenia Citkowitz. She is blessed to have parents like Sands and Citkowitz. Imogen has an elder sister and brother namely Natalya Morley Sands, born on 16 August 1996, and Henry Sands, born on 20 September 1985, however, he is from her father’s previous marriage with journalist Sarah Sands. Her father, Julian Richard Morley Sands, was an English actor. He had numerous break-out roles in films and one of them is as George Emerson in A Room with a View (1985). He was also portrayed in television series, including Nick Hardaway in Rose Red (2002), Vladimir Bierko in 24 (2006), and Jor-El in Smallville (2009-2010). Furthermore, he voiced Valmont in Jackie Chan Adventures (2000-2002). He also made his appearances in The Killing Fields (1984), Gothic (1986), Arachnophobia (1990), Naked Lunch (1991), and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), among others.

Her mother, Evgenia Citkowitz, is an American playwright, author, and journalist. She grew up in London, England. Her first book Ether was published in 2010, which consists of a collection of seven short stories and a novella. Evgenia’s debut novel The Shades, a psychological thriller, was published on June 19, 2018. She has worked for various reputed publications across the UK and USA, including The London Magazine, The Sunday Times, and The Guardian.

Shocking Death of Her Father

In January 2023, her father went hiking in Mount San Antonio, California, in the San Gabriel Mountains northeast of California. Later that evening, he was reported missing. The initial search took place in the area and his three adult children had also joined the ground search for their father. However, they could not find the traces of Sands. On June 24, 2023, after five months of his missing, some hikers found human remains in the area which were later positively identified as Sands’s on June 27. The cause of death was listed as undetermined because of the condition of the body.

  • Imogen’s maternal grandfather, Israel Citkowitz, was a Polish-born American pianist, composer, teacher, and critic. He relocated to the United States when he was three years old.
  • Her aunt, Dr. Elena Citkowitz, died from cancer in 2013, aged 73.
  • Her maternal grandmother, Lady Caroline Blackwood, was an English writer, and also a member of the Guinness family, a prominent Irish and British family in banking, politics, and brewing.
  • Interestingly, her parents met each other through a third person named John Malkovich, a friend of Sands. That meeting resulted in the birth of two beautiful children.
  • Her father went missing while hiking in Mount San Antonio, California, in the San Gabriel Mountains. His remains were discovered in June of that year.
