Career Breakthrough

When Mathers was four years old, he was involved in a comedy Western film but his appearance was uncredited. Moreover, he was in an episode of “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.” He then got other minor roles in film such as, “The Seven Little Foys” and “This is My Love.”

Jerry Mathers’ career breakthrough came after he got the role of “Beaver” in the “Leave it to Beaver” film. Upon landing the role, he played it in all of its 234 episodes that spanned six years, enough time for his career and reputation to grow.

Surprisingly, Jerry became the first child actor to get a deal that involved getting a percentage of merchandising revenue from the TV program.

Jerry has also worked as a commercial bank loan officer and a real estate developer. However, he went back to acting and in that year, 1978, he appeared in the “Flying High” series in one episode. He went on to appear in other films in the following years.
